De openingspotten van vandaag zijn niet zo denderend.
Met Ferrero,Chela en Monfils zal vanaf half één het spektakel beginnen!
Voor de rest is het een weinig interessante dag, met alleen nog Ferrer/Nadal die wel zullen winnen.

Ho ho, Gabash-Zemlja is vrij essentieel. Verder zetten ze allemaal vrouwenpotten om 11 uur, zodat wij de rest van de dag gewoon mannentennis kunnen kijken.

Voorspellingen zijn een beetje wisselvallig.. Vandaag en morgen af en toe periodes met buien.. Zou Rond half 2 op moeten klaren volgens de commentatoren..

1.30 pm: Weatherââ¬â¢s got worse, Iââ¬â¢m afraid. Iââ¬â¢m hoping that this is the 2 pm shower that has come early. I went for lunch at about 12.45 and it was barely drizzling then, but the rain has redoubled its efforts since then.
12.30 pm: Nothing til 1 pm apparently. In the mean time, go on The Great Debate and tell us which your favourite rivalries were. Borg ââ¬â Connors/Mac/everyone for me in the menââ¬â¢s, and I think it was a crying shame that Graf ââ¬â Seles was cut short in its prime.
11.30 am: Covers still on. Apparently the weather forecast is for showers at 11 am and 2 pm, so hopefully we can squeeze something in in the mean time (and then of course get plenty from about 3 pm onwards).
11 am: Bad news. I did say ââ¬Åweather-permittingââ¬Â and the weather is not permitting. What was a slight drizzle as I walked over to the press area is now a full-on shower, and the covers are back on.
10.45 am: Morning one and all, and welcome to day five of the 2010 French Open! Iââ¬â¢m Drew Lilley (they havenââ¬â¢t got rid of me yet) and today, weââ¬â¢re going to try to finish the second round, weather permitting. We had another downpour last night, but the weather is similar to yesterday, so it could well be touch and go once again in terms of the rain.

Tis maar te hopen dat Haggie en ik op Wimbledon deze ellende niet hebben. Gelukkig is er dan nog het WK dat we op schermen op het park kunnen kijken

Waarsch alleen bij wedstrijden van Engeland. En dan is het nog de vraag gezien het traditioneel elitaire publiek en ze willen ook niet dat iedereen voetbal gaat kijken.

Die spelen dan niet maar er zijn een aantal ruimtes met schermen en als het regent zullen ze dat heus wel uitzenden. 2 jaar geleden zonden ze Duitsland uit en keek heel Henman Hill mee toen er een regenpauze was.
Is het nou nog niet droog? Het begint langzamerhand vrij irritant te worden

2 pm: Barely spotting out there but itââ¬â¢s likely to bucket down again at any moment (the 2 pm shower they predicted) so no movement til 2.30 at the earliest, Iââ¬â¢m afraid.

(CNN) -- Organizers of this year's Wimbledon tennis championships have decided to kick football firmly into the long grass.
The All England Lawn Tennis Club has declared the tournament a "World Cup-free zone" and is refusing to show matches from the showpiece in South Africa on their big screen or in any other public areas.
Wimbledon runs from June 21 to July 4, while the World Cup starts on June 11 and ends one month later.
Wimbledon chiefs are determined that fans who enter the grounds of the famous southwest London venue are focused on only one sport.
"This is arguably the leading tennis tournament in the world and people come here to watch tennis," said Tim Phillips, chairman of the All England Club.
"If people want to watch the World Cup they should go to South Africa or watch it on the TV."

2.55 pm: Rain has eased off but covers still on as more rain is threatening. What did I mean by ââ¬Åfirst-to-twoââ¬Â between Monfils and Fognini? Itââ¬â¢s 5-5 in the final set, so whoever gets two games clear has won! I almost said ââ¬Åbest of threeââ¬Â but obviously 7-6 doesnââ¬â¢t work in the final set of a European Slam where you donââ¬â¢t have tie-breaks.

NOS is een ramp op tennisgebied. Wat zenden zou in een jaar live uit. Alleen RG tot 1730 uur. Voor de rest mag je van de US Open en de Aus Open 3 min in Sportjournaals zien. Wimbledon hebben ze helemaal niets van. Rosmalen alleen halve finales en finale en Rotterdam 1 halve finale en de finale.

Een hoop partijen gaan niet door vandaag, waaronder Nadal. Hopelijk gaat Verdasco zijn partij wel af krijgen, heeft ie een dag meer rust.

De baan is traag, toch Roddick al snel met de break tegen Kavcic. Hij zal deze en z'n 3e ronde nog wel winnen maar tegen Beest gaat ie er zeker af. Nieminen was er nota bene al erg dichtbij.
